Welcoming professional training courses

Professional training dominated the month at the NRC. First Specsavers took over both floors to run their Cert 4 Practical Workshops, which provide high level training and the perfect stepping stone towards becoming a dispensing optician, at the start of the month. 

We welcomed more than 200 students over the course of the week. This was an invaluable event for Specsavers trainees, full of networking and learning opportunities. Check out the NRC LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram to see what they got up to.

It is pre-reg central here, as we welcome a number of different companies running specialised courses to support their trainee optometrists. This is a year of supervised, pre-registration training in practice after graduating. Trainees work with real patients and gain invaluable experience. The Specsavers team returned last week for their Pre-Reg Academy, hosting students from across the country to progress their skills. 

We also hosted the Hakim Group,  who support independent optical practices, and their optometrist members for their course. Finally, we will be welcoming ASDA Opticians to the NRC for the first time for a number of pre-reg days, in association with OPTOM Academy.

Amongst all these exciting pre-reg events, we also have candidates visiting to sit their theory exam as part of their Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) examinations. We wish them the very best of luck.
