7 years of the National Resource Centre
Today marks the 7th birthday of the National Resource Centre!
On 19th September 2018, the NRC was officially opened by Andrew Street CBE, the Mayor of the West Midlands at the time. This marked the start of a Midlands based hub for education, assessments and events in the optical industry and beyond.
Since then, the NRC has seen a great deal. We have welcomed thousands of facilitators and delegates, examiners and candidates, and senior leadership and trainees. The Association of British Dispensing Opticians have hosted their clinical conferences with us year on year. Specsavers have a long history of pre-reg and OSCE preparation courses at the NRC. ATS, Claire’s Accessories and Five Guys have all been visitors to the NRC, and we are home to more glasses frames that you will have ever seen!
COVID was a also key part of the venue’s history. NRC Operations Manager Mat Stringer was cleaning thoroughly and repeatedly to ensure the safety of our guests. With examinations taking place during this time, it was an eventful time!
Mat Stringer, NRC’s Operations Manager, said “It’s hard to believe the NRC is already celebrating its 7th birthday! Looking back, I’m proud of how much has been achieved over these seven years. I’m also excited about the ambitious plans ahead. Happy Birthday to yoooouuuuu!”
With excellent reviews and multiple companies returning over the years to host their events with our brilliant team, it really has become a staple for the events industry in the area. We will continue to provide 5-star service and we’re so proud of the events that are held in this building.
We hope to seeing you at one of them soon!
