Another successful summer exam season officially underway at the NRC
Exam season is well underway at the National Resource Centre in Birmingham. Plus, with plenty of other events taking place on our fifth floor, the venue is a hive of activity! If you haven’t been following us on socials, here’s what you’ve missed.
Specsavers
As many of you will know, Specsavers are regular visitors to the venue. They truly maximise the use of our large rooms with AV facilities and fifth floor clinical bays to accomodate hands-on learning. On this occasion, it was their pre-reg course that took centre stage to support their graduate level employees to expand their learning and how best to support their patients in store.
Positive Impact
With their Specialist Club events being so popular, Positive Impact came for an extra visit to accomodate more delegates looking to extend their learning about dry eyes. With 5-star feedback, this was another brilliant event by the team from Positive Impact, and we look forward to welcoming them back in October.
Hakim Group and Optom Academy
Hakim Group returned to the National Resource Centre to run their pre-reg event in association with Optom Academy. Based on the fifth floor and in the sponsored clinical bays, students sat two mock OSCEs through the course of the day. In as similar as an environment as the real thing, these practical revision sessions were the perfect opportunity to test their skills and knowledge.
ABDO CPD with Thea Pharmaceuticals
The ABDO CPD team visited us to run their first masterclass in association with Théa Pharmaceuticals. This was a standout event, with tremendous amounts of positive feedback. It’s always a pleasure to host our ABDO colleagues, and with plenty more CPD events booked throughout the remainder of 2026, we look forward to more events with them!
Updated Presidents Board
With a new ABDO president comes an update to the board!
We are proud to be home to the ABDO Presidents Board on our fifth floor. Last Friday, the board was updated to mark Brenda Rennie’s appointment. A very big thank you to Stan for his steady hand and beautiful work!
Coming up…
Whilst PQEs continue to take place until early next week, we are ready for the further examinations. This includes contact lens exams, FQEs, and paediatric exams, all facilitated by the ABDO examinations team. In addition, we have a number of Specsavers CLiP events booked in towards the end of next month.
