Going green at the NRC – Carbon Footprinting

Did you know that the NRC is carbon neutral? Carbon footprinting for 2021 was completed at the start of this year.

The venue is operationally carbon neutral with offsets purchased from schemes in Brazil and Turkey:

Maisa Amazon REDD+ forestry, Brazil
Gold Standard Fuatres Wind Farm, Turkey

Project Highlights:

  • 28,739 hectares of forest protected
  • Protected habitat for high conservation value species
  • 55,000tCO2e fossil fuel derived emissions avoided each year

But the work doesn’t stop there and the NRC has been looking ahead to become even more sustainable in 2022.

Now, the team is working to reduce it’s carbon footprint. We aim to cut emissions by five per cent each year. You can see our regular updates on the blog outlining how we are reusing, reducing and recycling. And we have a handy infographic below if you would like to know more.
